PREACHER’S CABIN

January 25, 2017 by admin

Preacher Room

Built by Hans Olaf Hanson (1847-1920) when he lived on a farm in the Appleport section of Northern Door County near Lake Michigan in 1884. Later, the Hanson farm sold to the Skyler family.

Don Erickson (who was a local master builder) later bought the building and created a farm and built replica buildings in the Appalachian-style. Erickson was fond of the North Carolina life-style and named one cabin “Preacher’s Cabin” in honor of the traveling preacher in the Appalachian area.
