Heritage Program 2021 – Artist: Rafal

July 31 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Sister Bay Historical Society is again sponsoring the Heritage Program during the summer of 2021. Each Saturday beginning June 26 artists display their work. The Programs run Saturday morning during the Farmers Market at the Corner of The Past Museum. So, it is an opportunity to buy fresh produce and enjoy an artist’s work.

July 31 will feature Nancy Rafal – Chair Caning Artist.

Chair Caning Image from 2020 Winter Program show at the Clearing Folk School

Nancy Rafal has been chair caning for seventeen years.  She learned the craft from Arvid Munson in classes at The Clearing in Winter.  She joined The SeatWeavers’ Guild ®, an international group, about 10 years ago and has participated in the group’s annual gatherings. About five years ago Nancy hosted the group at Old World Wisconsin in Eagle.  Nancy enjoys bringing new life to old chairs and now teaches during January and February at The Clearing in the Winter.  If you have a chair that needs rescuing bring pictures of it and Nancy will discuss it with you.

You can try your hand at several projects she will have with her.
