Sister Bay Historical Society is again sponsoring the Heritage Program during the summer of 2021. Each Saturday beginning June 26 artists display their work. The Programs run Saturday morning during the Farmers Market at the Corner of The Past Museum. So, it is an opportunity to buy fresh produce and enjoy an artist’s work.
July 3 will feature Gary Chaudoir – Glass Artist.
Gary Chaudoir has been working in stained glass in Northern Door County since 1978 and in fused glass since 1996. He specializes in custom stained glass and fused glass commissions. Using glass, wood, and brass, each piece he creates is truly unique. His commissioned work appears at Sister Bay Moravian Church, Scandia Village Good Samaritan, Door County Justice Center, St. Lukes, and The Clearing, among others. He has also created retirement and lifetime achievement awards for Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association, Door County Maritime Museum, Leadership Door County, and Milwaukee County Social Services to name a few. Gary’s demonstration at Corner of the Past will include a glass cutting demo, a display of raw materials, a kiln firing in progress, and many finished glass art and jewelry pieces for sale. If you have an idea for a commissioned work Gary will work with you to come up with a design.
New this year, Gary will offer children and adults the opportunity to create their own glass mosaic art piece. Using specially prepared clear glass shapes, glass chips made safe by tumbling and a specialty glue, visitors can create a unique glass mosaic suncatcher, which can be proudly displayed for years to come. Project fee ranges from $5 – $12.
