Scheduled Season 2009 - 2010 Events

December 4 Annual Holiday Gathering of the Sister Bay Historical Society
7 to 9 p.m.

Society members and volunteers are invited to the Old Anderson House at The Corner of the Past museum, Highway 57 and Fieldcrest Road for the festivities. Christmas carols sung around the vintage pump organ will highlight evening. Punch, Christmas cookies and other snacks will be served.
June 12 Corner of the Past opens for the 14th season
Tour an 1875 farmhouse and restored farm buildings with century-old furnishings, tools and farm implements. Open weekends through the end of September. Farmers’ Market and Heritage Demonstrations most Saturdays. Group tours available on weekdays by appointment. Also available is a self-guided tour directory with brief histories of each of the 15 structures on the museum grounds which are open during daylight hours throughout the summer. Sponsored by the Sister Bay Historical Society. Admission donation: $1
June 26 The Saturday Farmers’ market opens June 26 at the Corner of the Past at 8 a.m. and ends at 12 noon. Vendors arrive between 7 and 8 a.m. Fresh locally-grown vegetables and flowers and prepared foods from certified kitchens are available in this colorful farmyard setting. Availability changes with the season.
July 7 - 10 Scarecrow-building Contest

The deadline for registration is Monday, July 5. Entries must be delivered to The Corner of the Past farm museum site on Wednesday, July 7. They will be on public display on the museum grounds beginning on Thursday, July 8. Judging will be conducted on Friday, and prizes will be awarded at the Farmers Market on Saturday, July 10.
There will be categories for children through age 11, youth from 12 to 18 years old, and adults. Families, local organizations and businesses are also welcome to participate.
There are no limitations on materials used, but scarecrows should be of manageable weight and size and durable enough to withstand exposure to the weather for at least several days. Contestants may reclaim their entries following the awards ceremonies.

There will be a $2 fee for each scarecrow entered. Participants must register no later than July 5 by contacting either Don Howard at 854-5487 or Roy Swanson at 421-1867 for an entry form. Forms will also be available at the museum every weekend as of Saturday, June 12.
July 8 8th Annual Garden Walk
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (rain or shine)
ÒA Day in the GardenÓ will feature six gardens, ranging from compact Òpocket gardensÓ to expansive 10-acre installations. Participants in this yearÕs walk are: The Newport House, Michelle and Gary Kemp, Paul and Diane Kelnhofer, Mark and Kathy Kuntsman, Don and Carol Jensen and the Corner of the Past Museum. Tickets, including a site map, are available at the Visitor Information Centers in Sister Bay and Ephraim, the Sister Bay office of Baylake Bank, Jerry’s Flowers in Sister Bay, Sunnypoint Gardens on Hwy. 42 south of Egg Harbor, and at Saturday morning Farmers’ Markets at the Corner of the Past Farm Museum. Proceeds support Historical Society operations.
Tickets: $10 per person
July 20 Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social
6 – 8 p.m.
Join in the fun and enjoy do-it-yourself sundaes and a variety of home-baked cakes in the unique setting of the Koessl Barn and surrounding farm yard. Enjoy a warm summer evening of traditional entertainment with family and friends. Costs are $5 for adults and $3 for children, with those under age 3 free.
August 9 - 11 Norwegian Rosemaling Workshop
Open to beginning, intermediate and advanced students. Enrollment limited to 12; advance registration required. More information under Heritage Programs below.
August 14 - 15 13th Annual Quilt Show
Hours of the show are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
The Old Anderson House is a showcase for beautiful quilts created by members of The Trillium Quilters Guild. The exhibit will include formats ranging from wall hangings and lap quilts to full-sized bed quilts illustrating four favorite patterns: Shaded Four Patch, Trust Me, Harmonic Convergence and Mile-a-Minute. Also enjoy a tour of the Corner of the Past grounds and a Saturday stop at the Farmers’ Market and Heritage Demonstration. The admission fee for the Quilt Show is $3 per person. Saturday visitors may take advantage of the free hop-on-hop-off trolley service operating in conjunction with the Sister Bay Festival of the Arts. The trolley ride will feature narrations by members of the Historical Society as it circles the Village.
September 26 Last day for tours of the Corner of the Past.
October 9 Last Saturday for the Farmers’ Market at the Corner of the Past

Heritage Programs are held during the Saturday Farmer’s Markets on the grounds of the Corner of the Past, at the Old Anderson House Museum, or in the Koessl Barn.  In case of rain, all programs will be in the Koessl Barn.  There is no admission charge for these programs.  We thank all of the artisans for the generous donation of their time.
